Fall 2013: Music, The Avett Brothers

Fall means a lot of warm and delicious things to me, but more than anything, it means The Avett Brothers. While I listen to them year-round, there’s something about their soulful twang and rootsy down-home goodness that gets right into my heart, circles a few times and settles right in. It’s wonderfully warm.

My boys They just released their newest album and, naturally, I can’t get enough. I’ll need a few more listens before I locate my absolute-omg-favorite song(s), but until then, I just wanted you to know that you should probably go ahead a download this from iTunes (it’s also available on Spotify) and set it to repeat. You’re welcome.

(Dandelions make me think of Crazy Eyes. Anyone else?)

Here’s a music video for their first single. Not my favorite video, but a sweet jam just the same.

Mix-Tape Monday: September 24, 2012

My five favorite songs of the week, according to my iPhone:

Dance My Pain Away – Wye Oak (I rediscovered this jam while watching So You Think You Can Dance. BALTIMORE REPRESENT!)

Laundry Room – The Avett Brothers (One of my favorite’s from last night’s concert at Pier Six.)

Black Betty – Ram Jam (My go-to running song of choice these days.)

Kick Drum Heart – The Avett Brothers (Always a crowd pleaser… and other of my favorites from last night’s concert. Run, don’t walk, to your nearest Avett Brothers Show. HOT DAMN!)

Sundress – Ben Kweller (Lately, this has been my alarm-clock song. It’s what I wake up to.)

But something tells me next week’s top five are going to be all Blitzen Trapper, all the time. How about you?

Over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.
