a Race, (Trying to Achieve) a New Year’s Goal and a Haircut

I’ve got a lot banging around in my head as I write this. Most of it involves running. SURPRISED YOU!

Does anyone know of a good 5k for me to run before the end of the year?

That’s not asking too much, is it? I don’t think so. Good thing I always plan ahead.

Speaking of races, let’s do a weather check for the Rehoboth half:

LOOKING GOOD! 63 degrees with a some a.m. showers is perfect race-day weather, if you ask me.

Since I have to pack the Thursday night, my strategy involves bringing eight different “top” options and four different “bottom” options… and making a game-time decision. The very fact that I’m under-trained, under prepared, not organized, and generally unsure of what my plan is for the race is pretty hilarious to me. Just under a year ago, I ran my first half marathon and I was so hyper-organized about it. Now, I don’t even know the start time, what I’m going to wear or eat or what time I’m going to wake up. I just hope I remember to pack my shoes… barefoot half, anyone? SIKE. I’d never do that.

Any last-minute tips for this half, 990 square?

And now for a non-running question: How does one know when one is too old for long hair?

If you don’t know me IRL, you probably don’t know that I have a young looking face. I’m 32, will be 33 in January sometime (allegedly – but that’s another story that I don’t think I told here yet), and have long hair. It’s nice hair, I ain’t too proud to admit, but it’s long.

How do I know if it’s too long?

I don’t want to put forward a persona of “I’m young!” because, let’s get real, my hobbies/personality/style does enough of that already.

Give me your thoughts, Internet. I have a haircut scheduled for Dec. 22 and I need to know (to prep myself) if it’s gonna be a trim or a cut.

Keep in mind, I am my hair (much like Lady Gaga).

  1. Oh man, I’m sorry I’ve been offline all weekend and didn’t see this until now! It would have been nice to meet at Rehoboth! And for me to share tips (which probably would have been limited to ‘the trail is likely to be a muddy mess’ which was true). I hope you enjoyed the half in my second hometown!

What do you think? Share!
