Can I just say that I’m loving the Martha’s Vineyard mania that the press is currently engaged in?

The Obamas Arrive at the Vineyard

Vernon Jordan Also Arrives on Martha’s Vineyard (sub. req.)

I wish I was 1) a reporter, 2) with the White House beat, and 3)assigned to follow the Obamas to Martha’s Vineyard. That’d be just lovely.

A friend of mine who was vacationing on the Vineyard the week before the Obamas arrived (he left the Saturday before they arrived) reported:

The Vineyard was great, and definitely crowded, but we left on Saturday AM before the Obamas arrived yesterday.  Not that we couldn’t tell they were coming – signs everywhere welcoming them, t-shirts for sale (I bought one!), secret service cars around town, the big green marine helicopters flying around and in full view from our house (our house was up on a small hill and we had amazing views from the upper floors – it’s was four stories – you could see the ocean).  It was a busy week on the Island with the Agricultural Fair starting later in the week, Illuminations on Wednesday, and the big fireworks in Oak Bluffs on Friday night – Ocean Park was packed.  Fun times.

I’m so jealous. I would have loved to have been there.

For those of you on twitter, I suggest following @ObamaFoodorama because she (Eddie) is on island and has some really entertaining Vineyard/Obama posts. Or, you can go old school and read her blog.
